Salary Range
Invest Detroit offers a competitive salary range of $130,000–$140,000 for the Director, Finance and Accounting role, commensurate with experience, skills, and potential for growth within the organization.

Invest Detroit is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation, and has created a new role, Director, Finance and Accounting, to expand the capacity of its finance and accounting team and improve upon existing processes. This role is ideal for a CPA with nonprofit financial reporting experience and strong technological skills.
About the Position
The Director, Finance and Accounting, will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer. While this role does not include direct staff management, it plays a key part in the finance function, with a focus on financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. This position has leadership development opportunities within our growing organization.
This role is best suited for someone who:

Is comfortable working across multiple programs, funding sources, and teams
Has strong written and verbal communication skills, and can present financial information to non-financial colleagues

Responsibilities
Develop system generated reports and automation, help increase efficiency
Prepare complex consolidating financial statements and related analysis for review
Manage net assets, including releases and equity investments
Collaborate with program managers to oversee and manage program-related expenses, ensuring alignment with budgets and funding requirements
Prepare and manage compliance reporting
Learn from and assist the CAO with the annual budget, audit and board materials
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration (required)
CPA license (required)
Minimum of three years of experience in public accounting (strongly desired)
Proven experience with complex nonprofit financials and consolidation (required)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong command of Microsoft Office tools
Understanding of community development, finance, real estate or banking (strong asset)
Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and mission-driven work
