Finance Professional 2 - Generalist
Position Description- Summary:
Partner with Facility Director, Department Certified Approver, Facility Business Manager, and Facility staff to support internal /external sales oversight and management, purchasing, and pre-award and post-award monitoring. Ensure all transactions are accurate and compliant with policy. Monitor spending activity and reconcile account activity monthly. Opportunities to attend training, participate in meetings, join user groups and communities of practice, and related activities to remain up-to-date on policy changes and PeopleSoft Financials changes are provided.
Position Description- Essential Functions:
Internal and external sales 50%
Maintain rates for internal and external sales to ensure compliance with policy. Report on variances.
Develop and maintain a system for inventory valuation.
Work with customers and the Internal/External Sales Office to establish External Sales contracts and upload them to PeopleSoft.
Verify and request invoices and vouchers.
Work closely with the Facility Business Manager to coordinate financial reporting, monitoring, and analysis. Assist with year-end closing reports and adjustments.
Budget preparation, including Position Budgeting, and entry into PeopleSoft.
Purchasing (35%)
Purchase goods and services by establishing creating contracts, creating requisitions/purchase orders, and by using a purchasing card.
Verify that requests are accurate and compliant with policy.
Reconcile purchasing cards, process cash advances, and request non-employee reimbursements.
Request Journal Entries.
Award Management (10%)
Assist in the gathering of user and financial data for facility reports required by NSF and other funding sponsors.
Create reports, identify deficit or surplus, and work with Certified Approver and Facility Director to manage awards.
Other duties as assigned (5%), non-essential

Required:
BA/BS in a related field plus at least 2 yrs of professional work experience or a combination of related education and work experience equal to 6 years.
Preferred:
BA/BS degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
Familiarity with University systems such as PeopleSoft Financials, UM Reports, and UM Analytics.
Familiarity with University and sponsor regulations for grants and contracts, and internal and external sales.
Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and planning skills. Experience working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects and re-prioritizing tasks as needed to meet all deadlines successfully.
