The Adjunct Teaching Specialist is a temporary (per course), part-time, non-tenured position for our Professional Development and Lifelong Learning Programs. The Finance Fundamentals Adjunct Teaching Specialist will be responsible for teaching a non-credit Finance Fundamentals course and will teach the course using the developed curriculum. The course is fully online and uses a blend of synchronous and asynchronous instructional methods. Live instruction is done through a weekly Zoom session. Asynchronous instruction is done through the universityâ™s learning management system, Canvas.
The course will last 4 weeks between October 27 - November 23, 2025, and will be offered in the future two-three times a year. The Adjunct Teaching Specialist is expected to be engaged and available for a total of 9 weeks, including the 2 weeks prior to the course start date and 3 weeks after the course end date.
This position offers a flexible work arrangement as a fully remote position and has the unique opportunity to help shape and be responsible for the student experience. Work for a phenomenal team and College that's learner centered!
Section Prep 20% 1. Record and post introduction video. 2. Send course introduction email. 3. Verify dates and contents of course site are correct. Make any needed updates and corrections. 4. Open the course and modules.
Live Instruction 30%
1. Prepare for weekly Zoom sessions following a structure provided by the pre-designed curriculum. 2. Facilitate weekly zoom sessions as scheduled by the department and following the expectations in the instructor handbook.
Learning Assessment and Feedback 30%
1. Evaluate submitted work to determine if each learner has achieved the course learning objectives. 2. Provide feedback to learners to help them develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to achieve the course learning outcomes. 3. Submit final grades.
Support Learners 20%
1. Respond to learner questions about course content and logistics by email or other communication means within the learning management system. 2. Meet with learners by Zoom as needed and at mutually agreed upon times to provide assistance in understanding course content and activities.
REQUIRED: â— Demonstrated commitment, knowledge in inclusive excellence in professional settings. â— Bachelor's degree and at least four or more years of work experience related to the subject matter â— Ability to explain concepts in ways that help others learn â— Ability to provide feedback that both encourages and helps learners develop knowledge, skills, and abilities â— Effective verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED: â— Master's degree and at least six or more years of work experience related to the subject matter â— Experience teaching adult learners in both live and asynchronous contexts â— Experience teaching topics related to finance â— Ability to evaluate assessments (e.g. course projects) to determine if they demonstrate achievement of course learning outcomes.
