S&P Global Market Intelligence The Role: VP, Finance & Strategic Decisions

The Team: You are part of the S&P Global Market Intelligence Finance Leadership Team, reporting to the CFO of the Division
. As a senior member of the team, you will have exposure to the Executive Team of S&P's Global Market Intelligence Division. You and your direct reports will engage with Enterprise Finance, various P&L owners and partner with the Corporate Strategy Team.
The Impact: You are guiding the development of a business' operations plan over three + years and identifying opportunities to optimize growth. Your M&A roadmap will impact the speed of that growth. The intelligence and data you present will influence key business decisions.
What's in it for you: You will interact with key executives across divisions and functions within S&P Global. You will work with the Finance, Strategy, and Corporate Development teams and play a critical role in acquisitions and divestitures. You will gain key experiences resulting from acquisitions and integration work.
Responsibilities: FP&A - Lead development of annual operating plan and 3-year plan in partnership with CFO and Operating Committee
- Work constructively with P&L owners throughout the year to mitigate risks, monetize opportunities, and drive productivity
- Manage estimates process and ensure linkage between investment capacity and unfunded projects and initiatives
- Work with key stakeholders to optimize key P&L levers; commissions, workforce planning, IT spend, allocations, and real estate
- Partner with Corporate to advance enterprise-wide systems implementations (EPM, CRM, O2C, etc.)
Strategy - Take portfolio view of the business to identify opportunities to optimize growth
- Work with leadership to help define investment priorities
- Work with business leads as internal consultant to develop investment cases for strategic organic investments
- Work closely with Corporate Strategy and colleagues across the enterprise to identify cross-divisional value creation opportunities and linkages where appropriate
- Create and sustain robust Competitive Intelligence reporting
- Work with team to develop Board Materials
- Define Balanced Scorecard KPIs
Corporate Development and M&A: - Develop venture relationships and M&A roadmap to expand into adjacencies and fill capability gaps
- Partner with Corporate Strategy team to develop cross-functional, bottom-up M&A valuations as part of Divisional deal team (incl functional coordination with Accounting, Tax, Real Estate, IT, etc.)
- Coordinate deal activities including data room, access to management, development of purchase agreement terms, earnouts, TSA, etc.
- Provide ongoing M&A training to ensure opportunities are approached with a consistent strategic perspective and set of foundational technical capabilities
- Develop industry presence at conferences, trade shows, GPs, Investment Bankers etc. to build opportunity pipeline
Qualifications: - Solution-oriented, strategic thinker; balances understanding of enterprise business needs with divisional specific needs
- Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple projects / activities at a given time
- Comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative analysis; ability to leverage and organize data to support decisions
- Operates with a sense of urgency, ability to work under tight and sometimes competing priorities
- Ability to flex beyond BAU projects and lead key strategic projects, not exclusively within FP&A space
- Can tell a compelling story with data
- Experience with:
- Competitor intelligence (publicly-traded competitors)
- Board of Directors materials preparation and financial reporting
- M&A financial analysis (e.g. valuation)
- Leading, developing and mentoring a team
- Presenting in executive-level management meetings
Compensation/Benefits Information: S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $148,200 to $411,300. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. Basic Qualifications: - CPA, MBA and / or other relevant professional qualifications
- 12+ years experience in finance (FP&A, investment banking, equity research)
- This role is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States.
