Summary of Duties:
This position reports toAdministrative Manager in the School of Molecular Biosciences (SMB) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). SMB is a very diverse school with undergraduate and graduate education degree programs and a large portfolio of research programs. The Administrative Coordinator will work independently, with delegated authority from and in collaboration with the Administrative Manager, the Research Services Manager and School Director to develop procedures for and actively manage the administration, reporting and analysis for the departmental operating accounts, including operational transactions, account reconciliation, budget adjustments and journals, payroll oversight, equipment contracts, inventory, and space. In addition, this position will provide backup and surge support to the Grants Manager for both pre and post award business processes. This position provides leadership for and support to SMB in financial reviews and analysis of fiscal data, grants, or contracts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles [GAAP]. This position will independently plan, coordinate, and conduct fiscal reviews for SMB and will provide departmental financial reporting monthly in collaboration with the fiscal team to SMB leadership and faculty. The Administrative Coordinator performs specialized accounting activities using available fiscal and budget planning tools and Workday. The Administrative Coordinator represents the Administrative Manager and Director as required.
A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programs, such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
Knowledge of WSU policies and procedure.
Experience with Workday or other similar software.
Previous experience in higher education.
