Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Associate Dean, Finance and Administration. Mason Gross School of the Arts is the flagship public arts conservatory at Rutgers University. The Associate Dean for Finance and Administration oversees all aspects of finance and budget management at Mason Gross School of the Arts, working in close collaboration with school and university leadership. Reporting to the Dean and with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Rutgers–New Brunswick Vice Chancellor for Finance, the Associate Dean is responsible for the organization, direction, and management of all administrative and business services that support the school, including finance, budget and planning, human resources, and general administration in support of operations, information technology and facilities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsibility for the development and management of an annual budget totaling approximately $51M
Oversees the finance team and supervises the work of key staff members in the Dean's cabinet while also providing overall leadership in support of realizing the school's strategic objectives and ensuring alignment with the processes and priorities of the broader university.
Serves as the primary liaison to University Human Resources; provides direction and oversight of the school's personnel actions, including hiring and onboarding processes for all full-time and part-time faculty, staff, and student personnel; provides guidance, advice, and consultation pertaining to complex matters involving school personnel.
Directs schoolwide operations, including facilities and information technology. Provides guidance and direction to units regarding school and university initiatives, processes, and policies. Proactively works to improve and streamline operational and administrative efficiencies across the school.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree preferably in business, finance, or a related field (or the professional equivalent thereof).
A minimum of five years of experience in progressively responsible leadership or managerial role with relevant financial administration and management, preferably in higher education.
