The Senior Director, Clinical Research Finance oversees the financial activities and reporting (>$100M in extramural support) of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute???s (DFCI)/Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center???s (DFHCC) clinical research portfolios. The Senior Director oversees the offices and associated activities of Medicare Coverage Analysis, Budget and Sponsored Negotiations, Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable and Collections, Clinical Research Accounting & Information Systems Reporting, and Financial Audit.
The Senior Director is responsible for applying General Accounting Principles to coordinate all clinical research financial activities across DFCI/DFHCC, including but not limited to expediting study start-up, reconciliation of receivables, aligning financial operations to bolster collaborations with extramural partners, team development, and standardization of financial operations and reporting across DFHCC.

Oversees the offices and associated activities of Medicare Coverage Analysis, Budget and Sponsored Negotiations, Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable and Collections, Clinical Research Accounting & Information Systems Reporting, and Financial Audit.
Leverages DFCI???s Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) to improve financial operations and reporting.
Works with DFCI???s Finance and Accounting offices to align clinical research financial activities with Institutional policies and procedures. Develops and deploys standard operating procedures based on industry guidance and national best-practices.
Manages and executes clinical research audit activities, financial reporting, performance metrics, strategic direction and operational goals with DFCI/DFHCC leadership.
Structures the clinical research finance team to meet the demands of increasing clinical trial volume, associated regulations, and institutional benchmarks (E.g. study start-up).
Serves as the primary point of contact with Department and Disease Center faculty and administrative leadership related to clinical research financial reporting and portfolio financial management.
Partners with Disease Center Leadership, develops and deploys a standardized process and business case development for onboarding additional clinical research staff, infrastructure development (capital requests), and resource allocation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
12-15 direct reports, oversees a team of 20+
Master???s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Health Administration (MHA), or related field required.
10 - 15 years of experience leading clinical research financial reporting and operations in an academic medical center required
Strong background in accounting and financial operations required
CPA preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Strong knowledge of accounting and financial operations
Demonstrated command and application of General Accounting Principles in clinical research finance
Ability to lead and develop teams
Process Improvement & Reengineering skills
Clinical Trials Management System and Financial Accounting Systems deployment and optimization

Management of awards/projects/collaborations with mixed funding sources: industry sponsors, institutional support, and federal awards managemen
