Design and execute IBES events (in person and online) that complement our academic and research programming in this area, leveraging the extensive network of Brown alumni working in this area
Work as part of a diverse team to ensure the smooth operation of the Sustainable Investing and Finance activities within IBES, and associated partnerships that extend beyond IBES
In general, Professors of the Practice enhance Brown's pedagogical mission through qualifications and experience that are earned primarily through professional, rather than scholarly, activities. Professors of the Practice are appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level based on their professional and/or academic experience and their teaching/advising experience. Appointments are initially made for one year, and are reviewed and renewed for periods of up to five years, typically on the anniversary date of the prior appointment. The IBES Professor of the Practice in sustainable finance and investing will contribute to academic instruction in addition to advising students, with teaching duties ranging from 2 to 3 courses per year, depending on the nature and magnitude of non-instructional duties.
Professors of the Practice are expected to maintain involvement in practice. This may include continued industry engagement, academic research, new venture creation/funding, administrative service/ leadership roles in support of the university or some combination of such activities. Professors of the Practice are not eligible for sabbatical, scholarly leave, or tenure. Professors of the Practice can become voting members of the IBES faculty following nomination by the Chair and a successful faculty vote.
A graduate degree in business, finance, economics, public policy, international affairs, or a related field is preferred, but applicants with a bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of professional experience are encouraged to apply.
