The Assistant Director for Financial Literacy (AD) reports directly to the Director of Financial Literacy in Niner Finances. The AD will assist in the implementation and ongoing management of a comprehensive student Financial Literacy Program.
The AD will operate within and deliver programming efforts to include online learning, workshops and presentations, one-on-one education, and coaching/counseling for students across the student life cycle from orientation to degree completion.
The AD will interface with faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents, and community members.
The AD will collaborate with campus partners to promote financial wellness for students around the issues of financial literacy.
The AD will be responsible for creative programming to reach targeted student populations in response to periodic student surveys.
The AD will recruit and supervise student leaders within the department
The AD is responsible for maintaining spreadsheets that track appointments, incentive distributions, and student participation and outcomes for programs such as VITA and Rainy Day Savings, as well as monitoring and reporting progress toward departmental goals.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Counseling/Psychology or related field and minimum of 2 years of experience in either of the following (or combination of the two):
teaching financial literacy and wellbeing or
oversight of a Peer Program, student employment, or student leadership development
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Educational and Professional Background: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Counseling/Psychology or related field and two – three years of post-graduate professional work experience in higher education.
Financial Literacy Expertise: One – three years of experience in financial literacy/education or financial counseling/coaching, with knowledge of financial literacy issues and standards as well as an understanding of financial aid.
Student-Centered Approach: Strong communication, listening, coaching, and mentoring skills, with a focus on student support, education and advocacy.
Program Management Skills: Ability to manage comprehensive financial literacy programs and develop innovative strategies for financial well-being as well as being willing and able to take the initiative to solve problems as they arise.
Interpersonal and Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to build relationships across campus, handle multiple projects, and exercise good judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving confidential and sensitive situations with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level, including building and maintaining spreadsheets using formulas, functions, and pivot tables to organize, analyze, and summarize data. Ability to interpret data trends and produce reports for decision-making purposes.
