Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Finance Supervisor (Financial and Management Reporting) within the Finance Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The Finance Supervisor (Financial and Management Reporting) is responsible for supervising financial and management reporting, overseeing day-to-day accounting functions in assigned area of finance, and enforcing internal controls. This individual also ensures that transactions are in accordance with GAAP and that compliance with regulatory and policy requirements is maintained. Additionally, the Finance Supervisor (Financial and Management Reporting) supervises billing and receivables to various revenue accounts including donations, partner affiliates, and ensures fiscal controls are in place and enforced related to expenses in assigned functional areas.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
Creates effective work plans and works closely with staff by supervising and addressing their training needs in order to achieve competency of work performance and understanding of financial reporting functions.
Supervises the development and submission of accurate and timely monthly consolidated financial statements package to RBHS, including reportable activity from the Rutgers Cancer Institute operations (New Brunswick, Somerset, Hamilton, Newark, etc.), Grants & Contracts, Robert Wood Johnson Medical Group/RHG, Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences Plant Fund and Rutgers University Foundation.
Supports the Business Manager in the implementation of new general ledger and financial reporting systems as well as in the development of regular and ad hoc management reports making sure regulatory, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), University and the Rutgers Cancer Institute requirements are met.
Appraises the Business Manager/Associate Director of items requiring leadership attention such as negative trends, financial/compliance issues, major budget variances and performance below metrics.
Ensures expenses and revenues are properly accrued and they are fairly presented in the monthly P&L and explanations for major budget variances are obtained.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; plus five (5) years of related experience in financial reporting and systems, preferably in a health care/academic environment.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
