The Office of Institutional Research and Enterprise Data Management (IREDM) provides leadership for a comprehensive institutional research and data management program that supports the university’s mission, priorities, and initiatives. The IT Business Intelligence/Data Analyst II will serve as an enterprise-wide finance report developer, responsible for developing and maintaining reports using WebFOCUS and/or SQL to facilitate data-driven decision-making. The position involves developing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting WebFOCUS and Power BI reports and dashboards, including the necessary data pipelines, to meet the needs of business unit partners in the Division of Finance & Administration, which also includes Human Resources/Payroll. The role also involves assisting with testing for reporting impacts when Banner Finance upgrades are implemented. The analyst is expected to implement efficient processes to convert raw data into valuable information, leverage data and tools to interpret institutional data for unit objectives, and work closely with team members to ensure reports deliver actionable information to stakeholders. This position also requires proactively monitoring risks and issues, creating actionable response plans, and addressing ad-hoc needs as requested. The analyst will collaborate to create and maintain a scalable reporting service, working with stakeholders to identify reporting needs and ensure the service aligns with expected use cases, schedules, budgets, and resources. The service and tools must comply with institutional and organizational security, data privacy, and risk and compliance policies. Primarily working within the enterprise reporting platforms, specifically WebFOCUS and Power BI, the position involves working closely with data stored in Banner, the Operational Data Store (ODS), Azure Databricks, and other enterprise systems. The analyst will also provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution within the university-wide reporting system and work closely with ITS and various departments to implement large projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 2 or more years of experience; or equivalent education and experience in a reporting/visualization role required.
Experience: Proven experience working with Ellucian Banner Finance; experience with HR or other Banner modules is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in WebFOCUS and/or SQL (Oracle). Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and environments is a plus, with additional preference for experience in Power BI.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with additional Banner modules such as Student, Financial Aid, or Advancement.
Understanding of data management and data quality best practices.
