The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) combines Northeastern University's signature approach to experiential learning with liberal arts education, interdisciplinary research, and community engagement, both locally and globally.
The College comprises 17 academic units, including two schools, seven departments, and eight interdisciplinary programs, as well as 15 research centers and institutes. Our faculty connects liberal arts education with the challenges of our time, and fosters ethical reasoning and critical thought, with attention to the enduring significance of history, literature, and culture. CSSH promotes inquiry with global perspectives across interdisciplinary clusters of expertise including Resilience, Sustainability, Health, and Equity; Cultural studies, Governance, and Globalization; and Network Science, Computational Social Science, Digital Humanities, and Data Ethics.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance, the Associate Director of Finance and Operations will be a member of the Dean's Office Shared Services group, supporting one or more units in the college. Initially, the Associate Director will serve in a senior management position assisting the director of the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs in implementing strategic and programmatic decisions and overseeing the School's Administrative Assistant. The role serves as the Policy School's primary finance contact, with strategic planning, management, and advisory responsibilities in finance and budgeting, human resources, development initiatives, and budget-centered curriculum planning. Responsibilities include maintaining university standards and policies to help ensure optimal compliance and record-keeping.
The Associate Director must demonstrate the ability to operate in fast-paced, changing, and collaborative environment across the various units of the College and the University.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred (MBA, Finance, Business, or other related major).
The ideal candidate would have 7-10 years related and progressively responsible experience.
Excellent analytical, planning, financial, and project management skills, with the ability to direct, manage, and collaborate with faculty and staff in the college; mentor, support, and develop staff.
