“Director of Risk” sought by Diametric Capital, LP (“Diametric” or “Diametric Capital”), headquartered at 131 Dartmouth Street, 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02116. Position is a permanent, immediately available, job opportunity that does not require extensive travel for business (rather only five percent or less). Resource in the role, note, may telecommute from home fully otherwise, i.e., ninety-five percent of the time plus. Regarding this, note that as a market-based business, it is essential to have everyone working the same hours, around and consistent with Eastern Standard Time, in order to best suit and accommodate business practicality from a corporate position and perspective. In addition, while any business travel element is substantially limited (to five percent or less again), we may from time-to-time convene office or client meetings in Boston, where we are headquartered, or the surrounding vicinity. Because of this, we would ask the person filling this role to live in New England, New York or New Jersey (no farther west or south). Role features contribution to our organization’s capacity to pursue and maintain sound, lucrative investments. It drives fund-investing efforts and works to optimize Diametric Capital’s proprietary approach to financial risk assessment. This is done using financial technology, by quantitative analyses performed, and through specialized financial and data analysis. Core functions and duties of the position also involve the following: develop quantitative tools to stimulate investment idea-generation, drive portfolio construction, and facilitate portfolio monitoring via financial and data analysis; actively perform risk-management business function, working under Diametric’s Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”); enhance and maintain quantitative investing portfolio; apply substantive public-equity rules in financial analysis; perform financial and data analyses for internal financial reporting; specifically contribute to definition of statistical evaluation and financial metrics, designed to predict and measure expected financial returns; estimate, determine, and calculate key financial variables, action indicators and numerical valuations, pertinent to investing options and decisions; develop and analyze profit-and-loss statements; work under CIO reviewing financial risk and exposure and index methodologies applied; conduct quantitative financial research designed to ensure fund and portfolio quality; evaluate new indexes and assess and monitor existing indexes using statistical and financial analysis; conduct ongoing financial analysis to identify and anticipate, including through financial modeling, market and other developments that could impact index exposure; conduct “due diligence” as the same relates to ongoing, fund-index maintenance; perform financial analyses and financial studies regarding feasibility of new product opportunities (including via financial modeling); use financial and quantitative methods to measure, manage and limit investment risk; and use financial analysis, as well as financial modeling, to help statistically-predict and measure outcomes and consequences of investment decisions made and contemplated. Position, note, also has been architected and budgeted to embrace and support supervision of a small, growing team of subordinate Financial and Quantitative Analysts. Expected size of this team in the predictable future would be three to five full-time financial professionals, all reporting to Diametric’s Director of Risk (and which role itself substantially will involve, as described and detailed above, extensive hands-on financial analyst work, consistent with operating in a start-up and small business environment).
Full-time position requiring a Master’s Degree or foreign equivalent in finance or related field. Also requires four years of experience in all the following areas: (a) developing quantitative tools for investment idea-generation, portfolio construction and portfolio monitoring; (b) enhancing and maintaining quantitative investment portfolios and performing quantitative portfolio management; (c) applying public-equity rules in the financial setting and field; and (d) performing programming using the Structured Query Language and either Python or R.
