We are seeking anAssistant Director, Faculty Practice Finance who will be primarily responsible to actively manage processes and governance for faculty compensation in the School of Medicine. The Assistant Director of Faculty Practice Finance will help define business processes as part of the university?s effort to modernize business process and technology redesign. The role will maintain a deep understanding of SOM faculty compensation practices and actively manage our efforts to have best of class compensation practices. The role will provide financial consultation and direction for significant, critical and complex projects, and business operations and initiatives.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with the JHU Sightline team who are leading business process changes across the university, specifically to provide a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the complexities of faculty compensation management, while serving as a subject matter expert to consult on faculty compensation needs from a systems perspective, ensuring effective and streamlined solutions. Specifically, this role will help develop solutions for the following areas:
Faculty semi-monthly payroll management.
Turnover data for SOM faculty.
Maintaining connections between internal systems, hiring systems and the ERP.
Fund management and reporting for faculty compensation.
Other, related reporting requirements.
Participate in Sightline activities, meetings and committees as requested.
Create content and lead trainings for department stakeholders on new business processes to ensure compliance with best practice workflows.
Manage large, strategic projects for the Faculty Practice Finance vertical as part of the SOM Central Finance team. Example project may include,
Partnering with the SOM Central Finance data team to build dashboards for consistently reported KPIs.
Building and managing project plans to ensure the team meets deadlines for key deliverables.
Create communication materials including presentations and talking point for various internal and external stakeholders.
Develop reports to monitor faculty compensation in alignment with institutional goals.
Serve as the administrative leader to manage department-based faculty and clinical associate compensation plans in the School of Medicine. This will include:
Maintaining a timeline for compensation plan revisions and ensuring department stakeholders meet deadlines.
Auditing salaries and supplements to ensure compliance with department plans.
Actively identifying opportunities to enhance compensation plans.
Staffing the JHUSOM compensation governance committee, as necessary, including providing routing salary reviews through the lens of FMV.
Partner with other SOM and JHU offices to manage all SOM faculty pay practices ensure pay equity.
Ensure compliance with faculty wage transparency regulations.
Review documentation to support faculty supplemental payments, including approving supplement requests, as directed by the Executive Director.
Review and provide ongoing monitoring for faculty startup and retention packages for faculty across the School of Medicine.
Lead SOM efforts, in partnership with the health system team, to create and manage department director performance-based scorecards and calculate annual incentives.
Actively manage the SOM?s position against AAMC and other, applicable external benchmarks related to faculty compensation.

Ability to effectively interact with faculty and staff, including all levels of leadership across JHU.

Physical Requirements
Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.
Occasionally lifting, carrying objects weighing 10lbs. or less.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business, healthcare management or related field.
Seven years progressively responsible financial and business operations experience, preferably in a large and complex organization.
Advanced knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Advanced Excel skills, with demonstrated knowledge of Pivot tables, formulas and other functions required. Experience with other data reporting tools
Demonstrated strategic leadership, planning, change management and process improvement skills.
Strong supervisory abilities and proven experience in managing and developing high performance teams within a highly change oriented culture.
Ability to analyze data for budgeting, operations, auditing, accounts receivable, and reserve analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
MBA, MSF, MHA or equivalent.
Experience with faculty productivity management.
Knowledge of academic medicine benchmarking sources and activities.
Physician practice financial management.
Experience in research financial management and clinical department business operations.
