As a part of the Division of Finance & Administration, the Financial Operations team serves as a resource to all levels of management and entities within Tarleton to develop financial plans that support and align with the strategic plan and goals of the institution. The Assistant Director performs complex and highly responsible job duties in the preparation, maintenance, and control of the day-to-day accounting functions. Assist the Director in effective and efficient coordination of the accounting process.Â
Position located in Stephenville, Texas with normal work hours of Monday to Friday from 8AM â“ 5PM or as work requirements indicate which may include afterhours, nights and/or weekends during peak periods.
Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
Responsibilities:
Assists in developing and implementing accounting guidelines and financial policies and procedures.
Monitors and analyzes university accounting needs and works with high level stakeholders to address financial issues
Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others
Assists in the coordination and management of the effective and efficient operations of financial activities in compliance with system and state fiscal policies.
Initiates, implements and trains staff in accounting processes and software.Â
Assists in conducting analytical studies such as trend analysis, break-even analysis, performance measurement, and expenditure/revenue analysis utilizing expertise in financial areas and prepares and presents reports on findings and recommendations for improvements.
Coordinates year end accounting functions
Leads and assists in the development of the Annual Financial Report
Assists in gathering and analyzing financial and statistical information and evaluates and monitors administrative functions.
Judgement/Problem Solving: Identifies problems and analyzes causes, recommends actions after evaluating alternative solutions with follow up to ensure corrections.Â

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelorâ™s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or another related field.Â
Seven years of related experience
Preferred Education and Experience
Masterâ™s Degree Preferred
Experience in Higher Education/State Agency financial/Budgetary Activities preferred.
