We are seeking an Associate Director of Finance who is responsible for the strategic and financial management functions for University Administration. This role will be a key member of the University Administration leadership team. The director will support the Executive Director of Finance and Administration and the Sr Director of Finance and Administration within the University Administration (UA) Business Office. This includes management and oversight of financial areas as well as financial operations, reporting, budget preparations, projections, and high-level financial analysis for UA and Central Discretionary and Gift Funds. The director will collaborate with key members of JHU leadership with university administration department leadership, divisional business offices, UA budget office, JHHS and the Controller?s office.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Direct the development of the annual revenue and expenditure budgets, which requires interacting and meeting with UA department leadership, Finance leads, University Budget office, and others as needed.
Oversee the preparation and distribution of the divisional allocations as part of five-year University Budget Plan.
Generate and present reports of various data to leadership as needed to drive strategic process and overall reporting.
Develop, analyze and present complex financial data and extracts and defines relevant information.
Responsible for the annual accounting maintenance, reconciliation and year-end closing and reporting for all of UA.
Prepare or assist in preparing project proposals and proposals for new initiatives. Analyze implications of proposals and present to various leadership as needed.
Analyze cost/benefit proposals and provide additional analysis. Make recommendations and provide feedback to UA leadership participating in the decision-making process.
Has supervisory responsibility of a Sr. financial analyst and a Sr. accountant. Also provide leadership, training and mentorship to other staff within the UA Business office and UA departments.
Communicates and holds meetings with UA departments and other UA leadership.
Oversees the creation and maintenance of all UA financial and budgeting reports.
Oversees the creation and maintenance of reports for other key data for UA.
Network with Directors in other JHU and JHHS divisions to facilitate financial transactions.
Handles special projects at the direction of UA leadership.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Research Administration or a related field.
Eight years of progressive management experience in higher education finance or administrative roles.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA License.
Experience in higher education setting.
Johns Hopkins University and SAP experience and in leading and managing budget operations in a large complex organization.
