The West Chester University Payroll Office is a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing reliable, responsive, and timely customer service and paying university employees accurately and on time.
Reporting to the Assistant Payroll Manager, this position processes payroll and provides support to University employees and departments; ensures the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of the payroll process; and ensures that correct, appropriate, and timely payments are made to eligible employees.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate payroll experience working in a high-volume, and deadline driven environment; the ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse campus community including faculty, staff, and students; the ability to work independently and problem solve; and manage multiple priorities; and attention to detail.
Responsibilities include:
Process bi-weekly payroll for assigned bargaining unit(s) and Graduate Assistants
Audit bi-weekly payments
Provides excellent customer service to campus partners including students, staff and faculty in a timely manner
Create personnel transactions in three systems (SAP, /Banner and Student E-Time) for all employment status changes
Process changes as needed for Federal Student Work Study and University Funded Students
Document completion of assigned audits including leave requests, comp leave, overtime, and gross to gross pay
Prepare correspondence, reply to collection letters and wage attachment verifications
Process advancements and stop-pay/reissued pay
Support the Budget Office to identify and correct payroll discrepancies
Provide W2s as requested
Explain payroll issues in relation to the collective bargaining agreements
Identify and implement process improvements
Attend training to support professional development
Perform other related duties
One year as a Fiscal Assistant or
Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school or
One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an Associate degree in accounting or business administration or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience with payroll processing
Higher Education experience
Experience working with collective bargaining agreements
Customer service experience
Experience with student information systems and document management systems used in higher education OnBase, Banner, SAP and BI)
