The Controller is responsible for management of the general ledger, monthly financial reports, and other financial analysis. This position will lead the audit process and will monitor and work to strengthen internal controls. The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and manages the Financial Analyst I, Grant Accountant, and Staff Accountant. This position will interface with the CEO and be an active participant within the Food Bank requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:30a-5:00p
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership
Responsible for the management and oversight of internal Food Bank accounting and financial processes (75%):
25% - Ensure the organization’s accounting system is in compliance with GAAP; legal and regulatory requirements (i.e. federal, state, and local government requirements) and private grants.
25% - Ensure the timely and accurate recording & maintaining of financial information. Prepare monthly financial reports as requested by the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
25% - Oversee and manage the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. Specifically working with the Extended Leadership Team and Department Managers on developing their budgets. Responsible for budget monitoring throughout the year.
2. Lead the annual audit process and preparation of the annual 990 tax return. Develop a timeline and assign responsibilities. Keep up with accounting standards and records throughout the year. (15%) 3. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures. (10%)

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Qualifications:
An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited institution is required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Required
Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive audit/accounting/finance experience required
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a management position with accounting, finance, or related field
Experience in a non-profit industry preferred
Solid knowledge of all MS Office Products. Proficient knowledge of electronic spreadsheets.
Knowledge or experience utilizing Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP software
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Prioritizing and good organizational skills required.
Ability to concentrate with large volumes of work, handle pressure of deadlines, and good judgment.
Must exhibit high level problem solving and reasoning skills.
Ability to follow policies and procedures
Ability to work independently and with frequent interruptions.
Excellent interpersonal skills required. Teamwork and communication skills essential for dealing with others within organization as well as outside contacts.
