POSITION SUMMARY: The Center for International Security and Cooperation is seeking a Finance Associate who will be a key member of the finance team and will be responsible for providing finance-related and accounting support to accounting and finance functions. This position is responsible for financial operations, reimbursement processes, financial transactions related to research administration, and is a key resource for faculty and staff regarding related policies and procedures. The incumbent will work with minimum supervision, research discrepancies, and implement solutions. This position is fixed term for one year with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and programmatic need. This is an exciting position to learn and grow in the center and at Stanford University.
Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions and documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Review transactions, support documents, journal postings, etc. for accuracy, consistency, authorizations and compliance. Monitor transactions in accounting systems for clearing and outstanding items.
Compile, maintain, and review data and daily reports for accuracy. Generate standardized financial reports.
Respond to transactional inquiries from client groups.
May be responsible for p-card administration, processing, travel cards and expendable reimbursements.
May establish accounts in financial systems; prepare invoices.
Participate in new initiatives, as needed such as user testing.
Maintain accounting/finance departmental files and desktop procedures and process documents for area of responsibility. Ensure compliance with university policies, and federal regulations and requirements.
Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and two years' work experience. Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
Ability to operate computerized office applications and accounting systems.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.
Ability to independently exercise good judgment and discreetly handle confidential information is essential.
Demonstrated success on following through and completing tasks independently as well as in a group, and to seek or offer assistance when required.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less.

The expected pay range for this position is $25.48 to $33.17 per hour. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
