The Director of Human Resources and Finance (the “Director”) will be responsible for managing two key areas within Tower Hill School’s Business Office and will have a strong understanding of both human resources and finance to help drive our school’s continued growth and high levels of sophistication and client service. The ideal candidate will provide planning, oversight and leadership of HR policies and practices, as well as for the fiscal functions of the School. The Director will join a positive and productive work environment and bring strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The Director will also have a strong background in technology and be able to navigate multiple software applications including general ledger, payroll, and payment systems. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and has two direct reports, an Associate Director of HR Operations and an Accounting Manager.
Manage all processes in the employee lifecycle to include onboarding and offboarding procedures, from background checks to COBRA administration. The lifecycle includes managing all forms of leave, a wellness program and compliance with the school handbook.
Build strong and productive work relationships with faculty and staff, connecting employees with any necessary resources.
Prepare faculty and staff appointment, offer and stipend letters, all delivered via DocuSign.
Develops and communicates staff performance review timelines and materials ensuring completion and delivery of a meaningful evaluation process.
Update and maintain key documents such as job descriptions and employee handbook.
Maintains personnel records and compliance training for all employees.
Manage the employee benefit programs and the annual open enrollment process by working closely with brokers and carriers. The School runs a self-funded health care plan which requires additional attention to claims, stop loss and other related insurance riders.
Ensure compliance and appropriate reporting with federal, state, and local laws and industry regulations, such as ACA, 5500’s, 990, EEO-1, and DOL.
Serve as primary contact for the school’s 403b pension plan, including the year-end audit.
Lead the annual budget process and monitor operating budgets, working closely with department heads, budget holders and the Chief Financial Officer.
Manage the external financial audit and tax return preparation, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Establish and maintain robust internal financial controls to safeguard school assets and prevent financial irregularities.
Work closely with other departments such as Advancement, Aftercare, and Athletics that need financial coordination and support from the Business Office.

Bachelor’s degree or higher and 5+ years of experience in HR and Finance; school experience preferred but not required.
Experience with MS Office Suite and Google Docs required.
