What Audit & Financial Controls contributes to Cardinal Health?

Audit/Financial Controls is responsible for conducting internal financial and operational audits. This responsibility includes assisting in developing the audit scope and objectives, performing audit procedures, and preparing reports of findings and recommendations to management. Evaluates and recommends improvements to business practices, processes and control procedures.  Provides expertise on the development of policies & procedures through technical guidance and audit liaison work.

Responsibilities

• Audits financial and operational processes
• Evaluates financial and operational risk to the organization and performs tests of controls to assess the adequacy of the control environment
• Identifies control weaknesses and recommends improvements
• Recommends areas for future audit projects
• Performs a variety of tasks as assigned in association with the audit methodology including but not limited to:
  • Coordinates detailed logistics with the primary client contact as well as the external auditors and SOX project management office
  • Involvement in the preparation of the project risk assessment documentation, detailed audit plan and client announcement memo
  • Participates in the project opening meeting
  • Executes audit program steps
  • Communicates status, observations and issues with the primary client contact and audit management
  • Prepares audit observations
  • Assists in preparing the closing meeting documentation and leads discussion of assigned areas during the project closing meeting
  • Drafts and modifies the audit report as feedback is provided by audit management
  • Provides relevant workpapers to the external auditors and SOX project management teams
  • Archives electronic and hardcopy workpapers
• Prepares and presents on designated topics at the staff meetings
• Maintains active dialogue with field and corporate personnel to serve as an internal consultant
• Works proactively with internal customers to ensure audit recommendations are implemented timely

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in related field preferred, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• 2+ years audit, finance, accounting, business experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organization, project management, analysis and multi-tasking skills
• Strong team player, able to be effective in a performance-oriented culture
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

• Demonstrates working knowledge of basic auditing and accounting concepts / standards and applies knowledge to business activities and management of risk
• Applies basic SOX guidance to business activities
• Analyzes control gaps and formulates potential remediation
• Recognizes sensitive matters and contributes to the development and delivery of communications in a professional manner
