The Position
The Director Finance & Operations is a collaborative and organized leader who is responsible for the management of all school finance management and physical plant operations. Reporting to the Head of School and serving on the Leadership Team, Director of Finance & Operations is an institutional leader with a background in financial management who oversees the budget and all spending in support of the school’s mission and to comply with all applicable laws. They supervise non-teaching staff, providing direction and support in financial management and maintenance of facilities.

Powhatan School is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade coeducational, independent day school located near Winchester in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1948 and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, Powhatan is situated in a rural setting on 90 acres of land in the town of Boyce in Clarke County. Our student body draws from a broad geographical area consisting of three states and seven school districts.
