Excellent opportunity for an experienced finance and accounting professional who will collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer in all financial aspects of the Firm. This role serves as an advisor to the Managing Partner, Chief Financial Officer, other members of administration and management committees in establishing, measuring, and communicating the Firm's financial goals and financial position, as well as implementing best practice financial policies and procedures. The Firm expects a strategic leader who exercises a high level of professionalism and discretion while ensuring excellent client service and satisfaction in all areas.
Using sound judgment and strategic leadership, this position will assist with running the financial operations of the Firm, which will be accomplished in part through the following key areas:
Finance
Financial reporting and analysis, periodic forecasting, client value & pricing, tax filings, audits, and financial reviews.
Direct the preparation of the annual budget.
Responsible for treasury and cash flow management.
Responsible for financial aspects of contracts and agreements on behalf of the Firm and third parties.
Develop financial systems to ensure accurate oversight, reporting, and compliance.
Coordinate credit agreement financial covenants reporting and compliance.
Collaborate with Director of HR on management of 401(k) and cash balance pension plans.
Maintain relationships with bankers, tax accountants, auditors, third party administrators and other key vendors.
Operations
Lead implementation of continued enhancements to the Firm’s technology to improve efficiency and reliability.
Participate in the annual partner evaluation process and operation of the Firm by preparing reports, providing financial and performance statistics, and supporting committee information needs.
Leadership
Participate in strategic financial planning and management committee support.
Maintain continuous lines of communication and keep abreast of crucial business issues.
Prepare and communicate critical financial matters.
Coordinate the development of the agendas and assist in preparing meeting topic presentations for monthly partner meetings, annual business retreat, and other committee meetings.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance is required.
CPA background is highly preferred.
10 to 15 years of experience with a law firm or other professional services firm.
Successful candidates must have demonstrated experience with partnership structures and tax principles, forecasting, cash flow management, and budgeting.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, as well as be flexible.
Prior management and supervisory experience are essential.
Strong business sense and strong financial analysis skills with ability to explain financial specifics and concepts in a business context.
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside the Firm, be comfortable working with strong personalities, as well as make effective presentations.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
Knowledge of SQL database reporting to effectively communicate project requirements with financial reporting team.
