Position: Assistant Professor of Accounting, Department of Accounting and Finance, William G. Rohrer College of Business – 10 month full-time tenure track position.
Department and College Information:
The Accounting Program at Rowan offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, as well as an Accounting Certificate of Graduate Studies and an Accounting Concentration in the MBA program. It is housed within the Department of Accounting & Finance, which also offers a BS in Finance and a Master of Science in Finance. The department has nearly 900 accounting and finance majors, making it one of the largest accounting programs in the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey region. The Rohrer College of Business, which is accredited by the International Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), had approximately 2,400 undergraduate and masters’ level students as of Fall 2023. The Rohrer College of Business subscribes to several platforms and data bases, including WRDS (e.g., Compustat, CRSP, Audit Analytics, Execucomp), Capital IQ, and Bloomberg – to support its research active faculty.
The accounting program looks to enhance the integration of computing technology and analytical skills through curriculum and pedagogical development, while continuing to build the accounting, leadership and communication skills that the profession demands. We continuously evaluate our curriculum for currency, and have recently introduced new course offerings in the area of data analytics. We have a strong program of professional development for our students, welcome teaching innovations, and have excellent ties to the regional professional community.
Position Description:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, developing and maintaining an active and highly visible research program with outstanding scholarship in a related area and in support of quality teaching, participating in assurance of learning activities, mentoring upper division students, engaging actively in department, college, university, and professional service, and participating in business outreach activities. Teaching assignments may include principles, intermediate, and advanced courses in financial and managerial accounting and auditing. Candidates with an interest in the integration of technology and accounting are particularly encouraged to apply, but all areas of specialization are welcomed. While courses are offered using various delivery modes, including traditional classrooms, hybrid, and online, candidates are expected to teach live, in-classroom from our Glassboro, New Jersey campus.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or terminal degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems or a related field with a degree conferral date no later than July 1, 2024, is required. We seek excellence in teaching and research. Professional certification in accounting is considered a plus (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA), as is prior experience in undergraduate, graduate and online teaching.

The Department of Accounting and Finance is one of three academic departments within the Rohrer College of Business. The other two academic departments are the Department of Marketing and Business Information Systems, and the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. The Rohrer College of Business moved into a brand new, state-of-the-art building in January 2017.
