The Associate Dean for Administration and Finance (ADAF) advises and assists the Dean in developing Mills College at Northeastern/Oakland Campus annual revenue and expense budgets, in modeling multi-year financial scenarios and in monitoring financial activity. As part of the Mills at Northeastern University senior management team, the ADAF participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the College and plays a lead role in advancing the mission of Mills College at Northeastern. The ADAF supports strategic initiatives through data analytics and financial modeling and provides input and guidance on staffing and space requirements necessary to meet strategic objectives needed for decisions regarding resource allocation. The ADAF works closely with the other Associate Deans, department managers, and the Finance and Operations staff to determine budgetary needs and plan new initiatives that are aligned with academic and institutional resources and strategic goals. Additionally, the ADAF represents the Dean/Mills College at Northeastern University to various internal and external audiences and constituents. The ADAF establishes and implements policies to direct the administration of finance, research, human resources, data and other areas identified by the Dean.
Responsibilities:
1) Strategic Financial and Budgetary Management & Planning:
As part of the Mills College at Northeastern/Oakland senior management team, the Associate Dean helps formulate and implement the strategic plan and plays a lead role in advancing the mission of the Mills College at Northeastern University.
Liaise with staff in the Office of the Provost, Office of Global Network & Strategic Initiative's, Associate Deans of Administration and Finance in the colleges, central budget, to increase collaboration and address intercollege financial/operational/administrative issues.
The ADAF supports strategic initiatives, including the development of new programs, through data analytics and financial modeling and provides input and guidance on staffing and space requirements necessary to meet strategic objectives and inform decisions regarding resource allocation.
Responsible for short and long term budgetary forecasting, and preparing multi-year financial models under the University hybrid budget model and developing and managing the Mills College at Northeastern University annual operating budget.
Report budget-to-actual quarterly performance results to the Office of the Provost, Office of Global Network & Strategic Initiative's and college Dean.
Work closely with the Dean and department managers regarding all budget issues and needs of the college to ensure that the fiscal goals of the college are attained.
Represent Mills College at Northeastern on select standing and ad hoc committees related to finance and administration business processes, University reporting and data analysis.
The ADAF participates in identifying opportunities for Mills College at Northeastern Universities' enhancement, program and revenue growth and is involved in the implementation and management of such programs.
Advises the Dean on budgetary implications of the annual faculty and staff merit process.
Serve key negotiator on implementing and reviewing budgetary components of all contractual relationships ensuring effective oversight of all key business partnerships.
2)College Operations & Space Considerations
Work closely with the Office of the Provost , Global Network & Strategic Initiative's and central space planning on space needs
Work with key Northeastern staff to provide metrics around current and future space needs for the College.
3) Coordination with professional staff
Coordinate with the Director of Academic Events & Operations to provide mentorship and development to department level budget managers that oversee departmental/school budgets within their designated portfolios.
Partner closely with Department Chairs/School Deans to ensure School/Department budgetary goals are being met.
Host periodic budget managers meeting to review/share best College/University practices and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in business administration or related field required
Minimum of 7-10 years of related experience, at least 5 of which were in a managerial/supervisory capacity experience, preferably in higher education.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial planning & analysis, budgeting, project management, resource allocation, and report development.
Experience with automated spreadsheets, financial databases and with developing 'dashboard' reports; high level of analytical skills.
Strong negotiation, influencing and facilitation skills, as well as a high level of analytical, organizational and interpersonal capabilities.
Ability to advise senior leaders on decisions related to the organization's finances, mediate differences on finance and operational issues, and create strategic business plans
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, make reasoned decisions and provide leadership in a consultative and collaborative environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service focus. Individual must be collaborative and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:
Progressively responsible experience in financial management in a higher education institution using responsibility center management (RCM).
Experience with educational and research programs in a university setting.
Working experience with Banner, Cognos, ARGOS financial systems.
The expected hiring range is $170,270 to $221,385 based on the position's responsibilities and scope.
