Northeastern University is on a path of rapid global growth and research excellence as outlined in the Beyond 2025 Academic Plan. In support of this Academic Plan, the university is embarking on a Finance Transformation Program that will modernize the financial processes and related technology that amplify and impact the Academic Plan. This Program will lead to advancements in finance operations throughout the Global Network by streamlining duplicative and manual systems, redesigning end-to-end business processes, improving Northeastern's security and access level configurations, and enhancing reporting capabilities.
The Finance Transformation Change Management Lead plays a key role in the Finance Transformation Program. This person will primarily be responsible for driving the transformation strategy including training, collaborating on change management, and effective communication techniques. The lead will partner with functional Finance leaders to create the transformation strategy, then drill it down to tactical action items for delegation across Finance functional teams. This will include developing the calendar of training events and methods, leading the development of the materials, and where needed, facilitate training sessions in person and/or virtually. The Finance Transformation Change Management Lead provides strategic oversight and develops a vision for transformation, tactical training expertise, program/ project management and hands on development of related content to support a series of Finance initiatives related to the implementation of a new ERP system and related workstreams. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven, high performing professional to have an impact on key strategic initiatives.
This is a very hands-on role requiring experience both in developing interventions and facilitating/ implementing them. The ideal lead will be both results oriented, and an innovative solutions person committed to supporting an organization moving forward rapidly in a changing environment. There will also be significant opportunities to engage with a variety of stakeholders within the central Finance team and with the broader Northeastern University community.
This is a term position that is expected to last through December 2025 but may be extended based on business needs.
Qualifications:
Provide the minimum education, experience, and skills required to perform the job successfully.
10+ years corporate training experience, with a background in end user system training for a Finance implementation including 5-7 years' experience as a training lead required.
Experience in learning tools and ideally have a background in technology-based learning
Candidate should have a creative point-of-view and be able to translate technical concepts into usable and actionable materials for the end user
Must be innovative and self-motivated contributor to the team
Demonstrated excellence in consulting, project management and in leading organization wide training interventions
Good business acumen with appreciation of business challenges and ability to obtain desired business outcomes. Aptitude for developing functional expertise and acquiring industry knowledge
Strong organizational skills with experience in managing tasks effectively and delivering quality outcomes on-time
Experience with identifying and communicating project issues, mitigating risks, and driving resolution
Ability to follow, design, and apply improvements to established processes
Proficiency to develop written materials and internal content with attention to details
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
Experience working with external consulting firms required
Experience in Workday preferred
Experience in eLearning tools preferred
Experience designing and implementing training required
Excellent facilitation skills onsite and in virtual environments
1) Ensure strategic alignment of the communication and training with the Finance Transformation Program business goals. Track training progress and recommend mitigation strategies as necessary.
2)Oversee training content creation and development. Develop and deliver training on Finance-related systems and processes, including the Workday Finance application other Finance systems. Deliver training (virtual and in-person) for new Finance functionality, ongoing training for various groups, executive support, employee/manager.
3)Responsible for improvement of the overall user adoption of the Workday system for end users by developing content designed to improve user experience via trainings, tips, hands-on support, and other methods. Continuously look for opportunities to streamline Finance processes, training content, system functionality to help maximize user adoption globally.
4) Manage a team of trainers, including coordination of Train the Trainer program. Manage all training logistics (rooms, LMS, scheduling trainers, materials, etc.). Communicate with team members, trainers, and management to ensure all needs are met. Work with external consulting firm.
5) Monitor periodic Finance system upgrades for impacts to current or new functionality and develop appropriate training plans. .
This role will partner with AVP, Finance Operational Effectiveness to oversee Training aspects of FTP implementation budget including vendor management.
This role will oversee change management, communication and training resources assigned to the FTP initiative. This role requires strong people management skills.
