The Oneida City School District is looking for an experienced school business professional to oversee the financial and operational functions of the district. The Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Support Services reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools.
Our ideal candidate will be able to:
Demonstrate leadership and provide oversight of all Financial & Business Operations as well as Food Services, Buildings & Grounds, and Transportation.
Create and maintain a long-range financial plan.
Prepare and present a responsible, balanced annual budget under the direction of the Superintendent and Board of Education.
Effectively plan and manage Building & Capital projects.
Maintain accurate records of the school district’s inventory, including developing and overseeing efficient processes for the receipt, distribution and disposal of supplies and equipment.
Serve as the designated liaison with the Auditor, Treasurer, and other financial authorities.
Supervise the accounting of school district funds in consultation with the Auditor.
Direct the preparation of payrolls and the processing of accounts payables and receivables.
Develop efficient and effective internal control processes.
Oversee the labor negotiations process and compliance with bargaining unit & employee contracts.
Serve as the purchasing agent.
Administer the application and management of grant funds.
Oversee the preparation of financial and statistical reports, ensuring accuracy and meeting required deadlines.
Coordinate and administer school district insurance programs.
Evaluate the performance of personnel under their direct supervision.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
What you bring to our team:
NYSED Certification as School District Business Leader (SDBL) and 3 years minimum experience within that certification area.
Commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and visitors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Expertise in all areas of NYS public school finance and operations, including but not limited to: GASB, Comptroller Guidance, Education Law, General Municipal Law, Civil Service Law, and School Board Policies.
A proven track record of developing strong professional relationships with faculty, staff, supervisors, community members and vendors.
Civil Service classification may be considered for an exceptional candidate.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $155,000, depending on experience and qualifications
