The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) online is the first technology-intensive program at Georgetown's McDonough School of Business (MSB). The administrative team is small but growing to accommodate the significant growth in the program's enrollment. Job Overview
The Assistant Director for the Master of Science in Finance supports the Senior Associate Dean - and other members of the MSF team, especially the Associate Dean for Career Management and Strategic Initiatives - in managing the program's delivery at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business (MSB). In this role, they have responsibilities such as project management, event management, schedule coordination, student experience management and program delivery both onsite at Georgetown and offsite - including opportunities for international travel.
They assist in - and sometimes lead - highly detailed communications and coordination with administrators, faculty members, external vendors, partners, alumni, stakeholders, and students.
As well, they assist the Senior Associate Dean as a liaison with vendors for the MSF program - requiring flexibility to travel up to 10% of the year both domestically and abroad for up to 10 days at a time.
The MSF program is a blended online/on campus program where students have the option to attend the weekly MSFLive classes onsite - weekday afternoons and evenings. The Assistant Director serves as the producer for these classes during at least one day each week, and may also work occasionally on other weekday evening or weekend events.
They necessarily employ the essential skills of outstanding organizational abilities, critical eye for detail, and outstanding written and oral communication.
Because little to no supervision is expected for many tasks, the Assistant Director's skills of independent decision-making and taking successful action under pressure are critical.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of the Master of Science in Finance program, the Assistant Director supports the management of relationships with faculty, students, outside vendors, partners, and university business units; as well as the assist the MSF team with constantly innovating and improving the program. Daily interactions include but are not limited to student enrollment, faculty engagement, program needs, revised program materials, special requests, student engagement, and budget monitoring.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Outstanding interpersonal and networking skills
Creativity in providing value-add solutions within the parameters of the budget
Critical ability to multi-task, prioritize and execute
Critical eye for detail
Team-oriented attitude
Ability to build relationships with students, peers and key MSB stakeholders
Confidence to take initiative, ask questions and make recommendations with the end goal being process improvement and student satisfaction
Genuine desire to understand and engage with international cultures
Availability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed, and to work at least one weekday evening per week and occasional weekends
Preferred Qualifications
1 or more years of business experience in program or event management and high-level student/faculty interaction
