JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Serving as an executive professional in the Finance organizational unit, the Associate Vice Chancellor will manage and maintain the financial/accounting operations of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The key areas of responsibility include Accounting and Budget, Bursar, Auxillaries, and Payroll.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages and oversees the annual budget process for the UTHSC campus, including preparation of System Administration and THEC requests, personnel and budget changes, year-end closing, financial reporting, and being a primary contact for college fiscal personnel.
Ensures the compliance of complex budgeting and accounting processes associated with federal funding, multiple funding, and allocation models.
Responsible for the accurate collection of tuition and fee payments for the campus through the Bursar office, including monitoring PCI compliance for the campus in collaboration with the Bursar.
Serves as point of contact with the UT System office to review major accounting changes.
Reviews and analyzes key financial data, such as the composite financial index and other key reporting metrics for the campus.
Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports; presents recommendations for programmatic and fiscal changes.
Develops and manages annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses.
Provides leadership to the Accounting and Budget, Bursar, and Payroll Offices. Responsibilities include providing guidance to these units' directors and ensuring compliance and resources necessary to carry out their goals.
Ensures directors and teams are fully trained and adequately cross-trained to provide for maximum team effectiveness.
Develop and communicate strategic departmental goals and deliver appropriate and timely feedback.
Establishes training and professional development plans in coordination for each unit under the position's oversight.
Encourages and develops leadership training by leveraging available resources with UTHSC and the UT system.
Performs forecasting, modeling, and analysis of the university's revenues and expenditures.
Leverages the use of technology to optimize reporting.
Streamlines financial reporting with standardization of process and data.
Interacts with campus financial users to effectively change and modernize processes.
