The Dean of Arts & Sciences Office at Bucknell University is excited to announce a search for a new Finance & Communications Support Specialist. The Finance and Communication Support Specialist provides high-level, essential support to the Associate Director of Business Operations in the Deans Office of the College of Arts & Sciences. The person in this position is responsible for providing support for the financial, communication, and office functions of the Deans Office. This person will demonstrate personalized, proactive, and responsive support and advocacy, as well as provide prompt problem resolution. This position oversees multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, screens and prioritizes communications and opportunities from external and internal constituents, and handles the effective administrative processes. This position supports the budgetary and financial processes of the office, leads the communications functions of the office, and supports the needs of an office that interacts with students, faculty, and other constituencies on campus.

Job Duties:
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with a variety of audiences, internal and external to the College.
Knowledgeable about policy relevant to financial operations of the university
Ability to work independently, handle confidential information, work in a pressured environment, and pay careful attention to details while multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
Serve as a liaison with the Office of Communication in developing and implementing communication strategies and outlets (such as publications, social and web media) that promote the College's mission, values, and key programs with students, faculty, alumni, parents, friends, and other constituents
This person will serve as a liaison with University Advancement as it relates to donor communication and stewardship reporting
Serve as a liaison with the Finance Office and Arts and Sciences faculty, staff and students for budgeting and policy issues related to expense reports and departments budgets
Manage the internal awards process for Arts and Sciences faculty, staff and students
Serve as a liaison with Human Resources on staffing in the College
Knowledgeable of software used on campus and by the College, not only for their own role, but to guide others on and employ software to accomplish new functions
Engage in daily front-line interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external constituents
Reports to the Associate Director of Business Operations in the College of Arts & Sciences
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, communications or related field and three years of experience; or equivalent of seven years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Knowledge of computers and proficiency with various software.
Willingness to learn new software and explore its capacity to support College functions.
Ability to show others how to use software.
Facility with quantitative skills for finance functions and understanding the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize deadlines and successfully manage multiple priorities.
Exceptional customer service skills, relating to interactions with internal and external constituencies. Ability to translate policy for constituents who need to understand university policies and rules.
Ability to handle sensitive confidential information in a responsible and appropriate manner and always use good judgment.
Proactive approach to projects, problem solving, communication needs, and planning.
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to positively interact with a wide range of individuals and commit to diversity and inclusiveness
Preferred Qualifications:
Financial and/or budgeting experience in educational setting
Experience with Workday
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Sit at computer and use mouse and keyboard for long periods of time.
Must be able to move about the office to access file cabinets and office machinery such as copiers and printers.
Work in a demanding environment with multiple competing deadlines and frequent interruptions.

This position is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt, staff position.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
Salary Range: This is a Staff Non-exempt position with a hiring range of $20.77-25.96 (NE11). The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
