Position Summary:
The Graduate School at Bank Street College of Education is currently seeking a Senior Director of Operations, Budget and Analytics to supervise and execute financial, operational and strategic projects related to budgeting, contract and grant management, operational management, and human resources.
This role liaises between the Graduate School and other divisions and Senior Leadership within Bank Street College to facilitate seamless, cross-functional workflows that enable the work of the Graduate School and internal collaborations.
Responsibilities:In collaboration with the Graduate School’s leadership team and the College’s Strategy & Operations team, the Senior Director of Operations, Budget, and Analytics will be responsible for ensuring that all operational aspects of the Graduate School are functioning at a high level in alignment with College-wide practices. This role will supervise a team that includes a Director of Finance and Operations, Budget Administrator, and Administrative Coordinator.
Budget & Analytics
Develop and monitor the annual budgets across the Graduate School
Project and monitor tuition and special tuition courses
Provide thought leadership with key team members across the Graduate School and Strategy & Operations around effective approaches and systems to ensure financial sustainability across Graduate School programming, including the forecasting and analysis of implications of programmatic shifts
Partner with divisional and College leadership (Development, Chairs, Project Directors, and senior leadership team) in development of contract/grant proposals
Supervise budget staff that provides managerial and administrative support for Graduate School fiscal affairs
In collaboration with the Business Office and relevant team members, oversee and generate financial reporting for grants, contracts, scholarship, and endowment funds
Work closely with the Director of Financial Aid in development and distribution of the scholarship budget
Collaborate on the administration of scholarship, direct loan and federal work-study programs performed by the Financial Aid staff
Facilitate communication regarding scholarship funds among Development and Alumni Relations Office, Financial Aid Office and Directors of grants involving tuition assistance
Work collaboratively with department chairs and program directors to update program plans, and use the program plan data to strategically forecast student enrollments and inform program decisions
Forecast and provide analysis and commentary on the financial impact of operational and strategic initiatives
Work cross-functionally to improve and strengthen GSE reporting
General/Operations
Understand the programmatic and cultural strengths, values, traditions, and opportunities of Bank Street in order to support smooth operational functioning
Develop, improve and implement processes to ensure the efficiency, consistency and high quality of work within the Division
Partner and liaise with Strategy & Operations to support the Graduate School staff in understanding the organizational policies, processes, and structures of the institution and collaborate with the teams to adapt and/or develop policies or processes needed
Support the development of reports or updates for a range of constituents in a range of formats for board members, Office of Communications, the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, and other key stakeholders
Collaborate with Human Resources to support hiring, onboarding and reemployment processes as well as ongoing HR workflows such as:
Supporting Graduate School leadership in establishing annual workload composition for faculty members
Supervising generation of staff contracts by term and provide on-going expense analysis and feedback of divisional course coverage
Ensuring the accuracy of payroll production based on contractual workloads in partnership with the Business Office
Serve as systems administrator for Blackbaud and other data, financial and student systems as needed
Serve on Dean’s Council, Enrollment Task Force, Refund Policy Committee, and Commencement Committee
Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications:
Skills & Knowledge
Master’s degree in Business Administration or Finance, or related field.
Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team and with personnel at all levels of the organization
Ability to design and manage complex team and divisional budgets
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both virtual and in-person settings
Problem resolution and organizational skills including ability to manage multiple projects, navigate ambiguity, and set priorities for oneself and the team in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analytic strategies and programs
Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of an organizational change strategy; ability to design systems or processes to solve a problem
Advanced skills using Google suite and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, specifically, advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts
Experience
At least five years of professional experience supporting operations and/or project management work in a non-profit or education-focused organization
Experience planning and managing complex projects towards results
Experience in organizations funded through grants and contracts
