The Economics, Accounting and Business Department at Converse University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Accounting and Finance at the Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2024.
Teaching areas include managerial accounting principles, upper-level accounting including Cost, Financial Statement Analysis, Business Finance and Advanced Business Finance. A strong interest in and intention to teach using Excel extensively is desired. An interest in and ability to teach business statistics would be highly favored. A secondary interest in and ability to teach economics principles, business law or healthcare administration would also be favorably considered.
The standard teaching load is 24 credit hours per year, (often fulfilled by teaching a 4-4 or 3-1-3 with the 1 course in the middle taught as part of the Jan Term intercession). Additional responsibilities include advising students, assessing student learning, curriculum development, and providing service to the department, university, and community. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal art setting and provide evidence of excellence in teaching and continued professional development, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues across campus.
Candidates should have at minimum a Master's in Accounting degree, or MBA with an Accounting or Finance concentration with CPA, CMA, or other accounting related designations. Ideal candidates will be excellent teachers, enjoy working with undergraduate students, and be willing and able to collaborate with colleagues from diverse disciplines within a liberal arts environment. Selected candidates must complete a background check that is satisfactory to the University and be qualified to teach in the US.
Converse University is a private, coed liberal arts university with an enrollment of ~1,284 traditional and non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students. The department supports undergraduate majors in Economics, Accounting, Business Administration (with concentrations in Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Marketing and Sports Management) and Healthcare Administration.
