Job Description:
The Vice President for Finance and Facilities serves as a member of the President's Cabinet and is responsible for the management of the University's budget, financial and business affairs, which includes, the direct or indirect supervision of the operations of the various units within the following offices and units: Finance & Facilities including Business Services (Purchasing, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Travel, Student Payroll), Student Financial Services (Financial Aid, Accounts Receivable, The Hub (one stop student service provider), MavCard office, Cashiers), Budget and Contracts, Facilities Management; and serving as Liaison to University Dining Services.
Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:
developing the University budget, prepare resource allocation, and coordinate changes in the budget plan in a manner that supports the university's mission,
managing a total budget of all funds which exceeds $300 million,
preparing revenue projections, credit hour estimates, staffing plans for 1,700 employees in all fund groups, non-salary allotments, and scholarship plans,
managing University operations in the areas of Physical Plant, Facilities Planning, Building Services, Engineering and Auxiliary Services including Office Support Services, Parking and Traffic Services, Postal Services, Receiving & Delivery Services, Recycling and Sign Making, Environmental Health & Safety, University Bookstore, and Vehicle Operations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application). In lieu of a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, a relevant experience in higher education finance and operation will be considered.
5 years progressively responsible administrative experience in one or more areas of responsibility in the finance and facilities portfolio, including significant experience in the development of institutional financial plans.
Experience with institutional planning and associated financial planning and budgetary policies.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and practices.
Knowledge of governmental accounting and financial report standards put forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Knowledge of construction and facilities operations.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

Ability to work effectively within a state system of higher education.
Ability to work effectively in a collective bargaining environment.
Ability to lead, motivate, supervise and evaluate staff in a variety of departments across the division.

Collaborative work style; ability to work with varying constituent groups on and off campus.
Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Telework: Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for partial telework up to 20% of the time. Specific days of week or variations from percentage of time must be discussed and agreed to by the supervisor. Incumbent shall adjust telework days as needed upon advanced notice from supervisor to attend on-campus events, meetings or other university needs.
Driver's License: Must have valid driver's license and must pass Fleet Safety Check.
Travel: Up to 15% of the time.
Frequent evening and weekend work. Frequent overnight travel.
