The Georgetown University Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI) serves countries to improve their population health and well-being and to safeguard against health-related threats by advancing the use of evidence and human-centered enterprise architecture on the path towards achieving equity and social justice. To achieve this mission, we catalyze the uptake, spread, and implementation of innovations; triangulate data from different sources, and tailor visualization of the information for each audience; design and implement integrated service delivery models; support communities of practice to inform policy and practice through efficient data use and horizontal and vertical collaboration; disseminate best practices and evidence globally through open source learning networks; build global, collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and interprofessional networks; undertake research that is informed by local needs; and invest in local leadership to own, provide oversight, and sustain implemented interventions.

Job Overview
The Director of Finance and Business Operations has specific responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Ensures credibility of CGHPI'S financial status by providing timely and accurate analysis of financial data, reports, and trends on a routine basis and as requested by management.
Performs monthly financial review and analysis of operating results of all global programs and projects, including oversight of the preparation of monthly financial analyses reports and variance analyses.
Oversees all business operations of CGHPI to ensure stages of process workflows are running smoothly; achieves strategic goals by attending to financial and operational efficiency and meeting ambitious productivity standards.
Develops, implements, and monitors day-to-day finance and operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of programs, projects and initiatives.
Models and adheres to institutional policies and standards; ensure all domestic and international laws and regulations are being followed.
Manages a team of finance and operational staff and collaborates with senior managers across Georgetown University and internally at CGHPI.
Sponsored Project Management
The Director of Finance and Business Operations serves as - or supports - the CGHPI Financial Manager for one or more sponsored projects, with responsibility for financial management of the sponsored project to ensure compliance with sponsor's requirements and University's policies and procedures. Within 30 days after the close of the month (generally the 8th business day after the end of the month), the duties to be performed include but not limited to:
Reviews and reconciles expenses on the Center Status Reports to ensure that the expenses are a) allowable by the sponsor for the project, b) allocable to the project, c) reasonable and necessary, d) supported by required documents, and e) within the budgeted amounts;
Reviews salary distributions to ensure that they reasonably reflect employees' level of effort on project; and reviews associated fringe benefits for accuracy;
Reviews the commitments of key personnel, to ensure the costs reasonably reflect the level of effort committed to the sponsors as part of proposal and notify OSP/OSR of significant variances;
Reviews the calculation of indirect cost recovery to ensure accuracy;
Processes all corrections and adjustments within 90 days of when the charge initially posts to the financial system (posted date for non-payroll and pay period end date for payroll transactions) and ensures corrections and adjustments are reviewed and approved according to the signature authority policy and supported by appropriate documents;
Completes the Financial Status Report (FSR) worksheets timely and accurately; and ensures that payments to subrecipients are reviewed and processed in a timely manner.
Work Interactions
Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance and Business Operations serves in a leadership role and oversees the day-to-day financial management and business operations of the Center, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, administration, procurement, logistics and compliance.
They are based in Washington, DC, and occasionally travel internationally.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field - preference for a Master's degree
5 to 7 years of administrative/supervisory experience - preference for 10+ years in a senior leadership role in a field related to the global health industry
Expertise in working with donors (i.e., USG, foundations) and overseeing financial management of donor-funded projects (i.e., federal contracts, grants, or cooperative agreements)
Experience working with university or non-profit global operations, both home and field offices
Attention to detail and excellent communication and technical/systems skills
