The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting and Business Intelligence, the Senior Reporting Analyst is responsible for supporting the analysis, design and development, testing, and deployment of Reporting work units in SAP Business Objects Webi, PeopleSoft, the University data store, and related systems, including legacy reporting systems.
The Senior Reporting Analyst will work closely with representatives from diverse business functions across the University. Responsibilities also include data analysis and resolution of issues identified by users and tracked through the Service Now customer relationship management (CRM) tool. The successful candidate works collaboratively, utilizing their education and experience with SQL and reporting packages to develop, support, and maintain an array of standard packaged reports as well as custom reports developed and maintained to stakeholder specifications.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supports the analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of work units in SAP Business Objects Webi, PeopleSoft Queries, the University data store, and related systems, including support for ad-hoc and Crystal reports hosted in the Business Objects and PeopleSoft financials platform.
Troubleshoots issues and responds to system errors and failures, recreating issues in a test environment to ensure the integrity of financial data;
Writes SQL queries to extract, analyze and research data issues as reported by users;
Escalates incidents to the next level of system support, and provides technical assistance to Finance Service Center Analysts by analyzing the appropriate routing of system issues, questions, and customer service requests via Service Now; Achieves agreed-upon service level performance metrics by effectively troubleshooting and resolving incidents;
Populates knowledge base for future use within the Finance division;
Partners with Finance and Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) departments to coordinate development activities, and respond to business needs;
Translates functional needs into technical specifications and engages with CUIT development teams in the construction of the work units.
Defines test plans and scripts to ensure functional design requirements are met.
Participates in routine upgrades, application of patches, and fixes by overseeing end-to-end functional testing.
Administers the overall development of solutions with the subject matter experts across CUIT Enterprise Reporting.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
A minimum of four years of related technical system experience
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree or other professional certification;
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials or equivalent Enterprise-class Financial ERP system;
Experience with using/creating/maintaining PS Query in the PeopleSoft Financials environment;
Knowledge of SAP Concur Business Intelligence reporting;
Prior experience in providing Business Objects training;
Experience in higher education.
Other Requirements
Experience with Business Objects (Webi reporting, universe design using UDT/IDT)/Crystal Reports authoring required. Hands-on SQL experience (free hand SQL, stored procedures, PL/SQL) using Oracle/MS-SQL server.
Knowledge of a range of finance and accounting processes including financial reporting, fund accounting, year-end, etc.
