Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals and is looking for a Volunteer Board Member for our new finance committee.
This is a volunteer uncompensated position.
PAVIR works closely with principal investigators, many of whom are dually appointed at the VA and Stanford University, pursuing areas of research that impact Veterans and the public including mental health, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. This is an opportunity to be a part of the exciting work being done to improve healthcare for veterans, be involved on a board of directors, and contribute your financial expertise.
The Board meets quarterly so the Finance Committee's activities will hover around those meeting dates (late September/October, December, March, June) and could include:
- Reviewing and analyzing quarterly financials
- Quarterly Committee meetings
- Semi-annual meetings with Audit Committee
- Annual Audit Committee presentation by auditors
- Providing recommendations to PAVIR Board and Management regarding audit, indirect cost rate, policy, investments, etc.
- Ad hoc meetings through out the year (around an hour)
The minimum time commitment we are asking from the Board consists of the quarterly meetings (1.5 hours each) plus prep time to review materials sent beforehand.
