Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Professor of Practice in Finance - Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management
Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply.
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for a Lecturer (3-year renewable term), Senior Lecturer (5-year renewable term), or Professor of Practice (5-year renewable term) position in our Finance area, with a school affiliation in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. This is an open-rank position, and the rank of the position will depend upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. The intended start date of this position is July 1, 2023. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY.
Responsibilities of the position include teaching core and elective graduate courses in finance. Each academic year, lecturers teach, advise students and participate in School service. This position is a research, teaching and extension (RTE) track role and is an ideal position for someone who has teaching, research and business experience and earned a Ph.D. degree but who prefers to focus on teaching instead of research.
Although candidates may be traditional academics or finance specialists from the corporate world, the most attractive candidate is likely to possess the following job qualifications. Note that qualifications for the Professor of Practice position include distinguished business experience and a record of practice-oriented instruction.
- Master's degree or Doctorate (preferred) in finance or related field
- Experience teaching in a highly-rated MBA or EMBA program
- Experience in business, either in a finance role or at a financial firm, with one or more professional certifications
It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the College of Business. The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business combines three Schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, and the Cornell Nolan School of Hotel Administration. Dyson houses a top-ranked undergraduate business program as well as graduate programs that award Ph.D., M.S. and M.P.S. degrees. Areas of faculty research include management; environmental, energy and resource economics; food and agricultural economics; and international and development economics. Faculty members in the Dyson School frequently collaborate with colleagues in Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Resources, and other units on campus.
