POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Finance and Strategy will partner closely with the Executive Director, Clinical Operations, to help drive key initiatives in line with the organization's overall strategic direction. He/She conducts analysis to understand the market, its competitive landscape, customer needs and MHO capabilities. He/She plays a key role in strategic initiatives and functional strategies for the organization, including mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships. He/She will oversee all financial aspects of business and drive the company’s financial strategy and planning and will be responsible for assessing the financial performance of the company. He/She is a reliable professional with broad knowledge of all accounting, financial and business principles, and how they are applicable in a clinical setting. He/she is a strategic thinker and effective leader who can make profitable, patient-centric decisions. The goal of the individual in this role is to guide the company towards profitability and long-term success, through collaboration with the Executive Director of Clinical Operations. Keeping patient care at the center, this role will play a pivotal function in helping to establish and maintain business systems that provide critical business data to clinicians to drive optimal outcomes for all – for the short-term, and into the future.
SERVING THE PATIENT: The Director, Finance and Strategy serves the MHO patient by ensuring that the organization’s finances are managed strategically, enabling MHO to provide critical services and care to our patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee financial operations of the organization • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks • Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required) • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems • Manage all accounting and finance personnel • Manage and negotiate contracts with Strategic Vendors and Payers • Oversee all audit and internal control operations • Oversee all Information Technology personnel • Establish budgets in accordance with the requirements of the organization’s departments, goals and constraints. • Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties. • Prepare timely, detailed reports on financial performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis • Conduct analysis of financial risks and benefits on business initiatives • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, SEC rules and regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance • Reviews progress with corporate strategy and planning teams while suggesting improvements; performs long range strategic planning (business and financials); develops growth strategies that are aligned with MHO’s key areas of strategic investment • Leads or supports large strategic cross-functional initiatives within the organization, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures; works with teams to drive project lifecycles from inception to deployment • Leverages corporate strategic imperatives to identify specific opportunities; represents MHO at various external events as a speaker, panel member or active participant • Provides fact based business insights to drive strategic direction • Drives teams to prepare comprehensive insightful analysis (economic and/or financial) • Identifies and evaluates risks; determines and applies appropriate risk treatment(s) • Follow company policy and procedures which protect sensitive data and maintain compliance with established security standards and best practices • Additional duties as assigned to ensure client and company success
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • Proven experience in an Executive Role in Finance or similar capacity • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices • Experience in a Clinical Setting preferred • An analytical mind with a strategic ability • Excellent organizational and leadership skills • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities • BS/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field; MS/MA is a plus • CPA or other relevant qualification is preferred
As the premier provider of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and adult Hematology services in north central Indiana and southwestern Michigan, MHO operates eight Advanced Centers for Cancer Care throughout our service area.
These Indiana locations include Crown Point, Chesterton, Elkhart, Hobart, Mishawaka, Plymouth, and Valparaiso. Here, patients can receive Physician consultation, patient and family education, chemotherapy, infusion therapy and radiation oncology services, as well as potential enrollment in nationally recognized clinical research trials. MHO also offers Radiological services, including PET and CT imaging. Each center has nursing assistance available 24 hours a day, a full service laboratory and access to a variety of radiological procedures.
