Directs the development, implementation, and administration of business operations for the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine (COM). Develops and maintains all financial related activities including purchasing, accounts receivable and financial statements, prepare federal and other grant budgets and financial status reports on financial activities of the Federal Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC) and its related organization.Job Duties
Directs overall creation and implementation of annual budgets and conducts analyses and projections on budget reports.
Provides financial accountability and ensures compliance with state, university and external funding agencies.
Has direct oversight of COMs business staff in charge of financial and administrative matters.
Directs procurement operations, including contracts, purchasing and travel.
Serves as liaison with executives and administrative offices regarding fiscal and operational issues.
Represents COM on committees and in other administrative contexts.
Develops financial policies and goals; performs short-term and long-term financial planning.
Coordinates auditing functions, cash management activities and insurance coverage.
Performs financial analysis of business opportunities.
Manages yearly budget preparation process and assists managers with the preparation and monitoring of their departmental budgets. Oversees approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates and ledger and account maintenance. Coordinates preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses and information reports. Provides consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations. Ensures records systems maintenance in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards. Analyzes financial statements, cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to pinpoint potential weak areas and guide business leaders accordingly. Performs other job-related duties as required.
