The Finance Manager serves as a key member of the Office of CME management team and is responsible for providing substantive and financial systems support to the Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education and the Administrative Director, as well as supervision of the financial analysts.
Uses advanced financial services and accounting concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues, including management, oversight and distribution of up to $12 million in revenue; reconciling funds flow and activity expenses; perform ledger analysis and investigate and resolve errant revenues and expenses; overseeing and developing processes to maintain compliance with policies and standards of national continuing education (CE) accrediting bodies, of UC, and of OCME.
Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, including ongoing management of OCME's financial resources; generating historical and trend analyses of activity performance in order to develop and maintain OCME's operational budget; reconcile activity budgets for accuracy of billing and compliance with policies; performing multiple financial modeling scenarios for planned and unplanned changes; establish and maintain systems for financial controls; work with central units, campus departments and external institutions to resolve policy, procedural and financial issues.
Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, including overseeing staff in the performance of purchasing, reimbursement and reconciliation tasks; managing funds
flow between OCME and other units (comprising over 100 chartstrings); oversee unit's cashiering function for accuracy and compliance; establish and maintain financial reporting for operations, activity, and private and government grant funds; supervise financial analysts; track activity volume; process invoices for education grants from industry and resolve non-payment issues of registrants and vendors.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
