The Carnegie Mellon Biomedical Engineering department seeks to transform healthcare worldwide through interdisciplinary engineering innovation and to train future leaders and innovators in biomedical engineering.

We are currently searching for a Director of Finance and Operations to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by managing a broad range of business operations in the areas of departmental finance, human resources, and staff management.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Developing departmental budgets with Department Head and monitors performance against forecasts; leads budget reviews with the CIT Dean's Office

• Serving as a resource and advisor to the Department Head (as well as faculty and staff) on matters of compliance, policy, administration, and planning

• Managing administrative staff (currently six direct reports) and serves as hiring manager for both administrative and technical staff positions

• Managing general ledger and faculty discretionary accounts

• Responding to reporting requests from both internal/external parties (i.e., collating data for CIT Dean's Office, responding to audit findings)

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting/Finance required; Master's degree in Business/Business Administration preferred

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Business Administration/Management; previous higher education experience preferred
