Job Description The Assistant Director for Finance and Administration manages and oversees the financial, and general administrative operations of the Animal Science Center (ASC), made up of offices on both campuses, and NEIDL by directly supervising a team of financial administrators and admin coordinators. This position provides direct service to researchers, research staff, and ASC animal care staff. This position also works closely with central office staff such as the Dean's Office, Budget, PAFO and the service administration by assisting in the resolution of a wide range of complex problems, many of which will involve multiple University offices, and which may have sensitive research and financial components. As a service center, the daily tasks of this position involve detailed understanding and monitoring of an expense budget as well as an equally important revenue budget, which keeps the facility solvent. The Assistant Director works closely with the ASC Director/Attending Vet in the overall management of the business office and provides analyses, projections and recommendations concerning animal housing, service services, facilities' needs, and all other the activities overseen by the Business Office to assist in maintaining and improving the overall facility and the services provided. Assists senior management in monitoring the overall effectiveness of the facility from a budget and staffing perspective and makes recommendations about alterations to SOPs pertaining to staffing models, budgets, and system upgrades. The Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance including making sure that permits are up to date and overseeing the permitting for controlled substances.

Required Skills
A minimum of 5 years of related experience in financial oversight, forecasting and budget preparation, preferably in the academic setting
Demonstrated ability to manage a staff and processes is required
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team setting are required
B.A./B.S.
Excellent attention to detail
Computer skills (business systems, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent communicator
