Citrus Heights Water District (CHWD) is seeking a qualified candidate with experience completing routine to complex financial and accounting level tasks for a government entity. They will have a basic to moderate understanding of governmental related accounting requirements, mandates, regulations, and processes. The successful candidate will be organized, detail oriented, and accurate in their work. They are an effective communicator and able to relay technical financial related information to non-technical audiences. The selected candidate will be able to establish and maintain effective and efficient working relationships with both internal and external parties.
CHWD will place the qualified candidate in either the Accountant or Senior Accountant classification dependent upon the applicant’s qualifications.
The Accountant is a non-exempt journey level professional position responsible for a variety of accounting duties. The Senior Accountant is an exempt advanced journey level professional position responsible for a variety of complex accounting duties. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and may exercise technical and/or functional supervision over assigned professional and technical staff.
Citrus Heights Water District was founded in 1920, operating under the State of California Water Code. CHWD provides drinking water to an estimated service area population of 70,000 customers through more than 20,000 water service connections. CHWD has 38 full-time dedicated employees to operate and maintain its water system. The 2023 CHWD annual operating budget is approximately $16 million, and its 2023 Capital Improvement Budget is $8.23 million
The salary for Accountant ranges from $81,515.20 to $110,032.00 annually. The salary for Senior Accountant ranges from $89,668.80 to $121,035.20 annually.
