This position reports into the Product Business Analyst group and will provide direct support to the Merchandising team. In this role, you will provide analysis to key stakeholders, helping to guide strategic decisions and drive financial performance. You will partner with the team to accurately reflect the state of the business and provide meaningful financial benchmarks. You may provide ad hoc decision-making support for strategic initiatives and special projects. This position requires a high level of detail and ability to understand and identify anomalies, communicating findings to key stakeholders accurately and timely. This also requires a team member that is self-motivated, reliable, and conscientious with a thorough understanding of financial procedures and analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Forecasting, Planning and Budgeting
Assists in the development of long-range financial planning and annual budgets for Merchandising team
Builds financial models to support accurate planning and influence decision making
Supports P&L analysis and highlights key business drivers, risk, and opportunities for business partners
Analysis and Reporting
Analyze and articulate the “levers of profitability” of the business to provide a deeper understanding of key business drivers; provide analyses and clear recommendations to help drive toward company revenue and profit goals
Weekly & Monthly reporting on key business metrics for department leadership
Partner with the business to understand variances to forecast/budget, understand and relay ongoing implications
Support the planning/rollout of key Strategic Initiatives within Merchandising
Perform scenario analysis, ROI analysis on capital projects and major operational spending
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
This position requires a minimum of 5 years business analysis, financial analysis and/or financial planning.
Business analysis experience with product marketing, sales operations, pricing, inventory management, or related role is preferred.
Understanding of financial and accounting concepts and procedures within a retail or manufacturing environment is required. Experience with forecasting and modeling is required.
Advanced knowledge of enterprise tools such as Microstrategy and SAP required.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office, including skills with Excel, Powerpoint, and Word is necessary.
Proven ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure with minimal guidance, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor, and work well independently is essential.
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to manage competing priorities.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
Strong attention to detail, data accuracy and an inquisitiveness to determine explanations, with an ability to consolidate multiple sources of information/ analyses into a cohesive story/recommendation.
