This position, located in Glen Allen, Virginia, is responsible for overseeing the daily management of power market risk and treasury functions. This individual will collaborate with the Vice President of Finance and interact on a cross-functional basis with other departments in order to identify, evaluate, and ultimately manage financial risk. The individual will manage power and gas trading agreement risk and counterparty credit risk and ensure compliance with relevant policies and standards and procedures. The Director will have oversight of ODEC’s daily treasury functions and compliance related to the debt portfolio and nuclear decommissioning trust fund.
Essential responsibilities include:
Monitor daily power and gas operations and counterparty exposure
Negotiate trading agreements
Evaluate and monitor counterparty credit risk and compliance with the credit and trading controls
Facilitate the monthly risk management committee meeting
Supervise daily liquidity activity and oversee investment portfolios of ODEC and related entities
10 years’ treasury, risk management, finance, and/or accounting experience, preferably in the utility industry
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel to include complex formulas and understanding and use of basic functions
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effective contract negotiation skills
Detail-oriented with effective organizational skills
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Power and gas utility and/or power and gas market experience strongly preferred
Experience with regional transmission organizations preferred
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related discipline
Travel details: Occasional travel required in this position
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Ability to use a keyboard and monitor the majority of the day, interact effectively with others through verbal communication, video, email and text, work full days (8 hours) in an office environment.
