Brief Summary of Work for this position:
This position provides counsel to the Vice Chancellor of Business Affairs on division matters and provides counsel and advice to all divisions of the university on financial matters. Position has direct responsibility for all financial matters for the university including the development and maintenance of sound financial plans that ensure the financial integrity of the university. Position provides leadership for the accounting, student accounts, cashiering, payroll, collections, financial reporting, budget development and maintenance, and purchasing.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Four-year degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related discipline. Five years of progressive fiscal responsibility in higher education is required, along with demonstrated skills and proficiency in supervision. Demonstrated dynamic and innovative leadership, interpersonal and superior communication skills, with evidence of building collegial relationships and effective work groups across divisional boundaries as a collaborator. Must have familiarity with office productivity software and the ability to prioritize, manage and successfully complete multiple tasks. Thorough knowledge of accounting theories, principles, and systems design and knowledge of governmental accounting and business operations. Ability to interpret and apply complex laws and regulations to accounting situations.
Earned MBA or closely related degree. Ten years of progressive fiscal responsibility in higher education.
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The Business Affairs Division is responsible for a wide range of business and administrative functions of the university, including but not limited to procurement, financial affairs, human resources, physical resources, capital management, security and safety services, building management and construction, information technology services, and auxiliary services.
