Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as the chief financial steward for the assigned School by providing financial analysis and advice to the Dean.
Responsible for aligning the school's financial goals with institutional goals.
Serve as the subject-matter expert in the effective and efficient management of the assigned Schoolâ™s financial resources to advance both near and long-term institutional goals.
Closely collaborate with the Dean and Associate Dean for Administration to develop and monitor the Schoolâ™s annual and projected operating budget and use of restricted and unrestricted funds, including year-end closing, quarterly reconciliation, variance analysis, and explanations for year-to-year and actual-to-budget comparisons.
Provide financial projections based on current year activity and the year-end picture, as well as future projections based on current knowledge of upcoming expenses, recruiting and staffing, trend analysis based on student population and tuition income, external funding that exists, and using the knowledge of those proposed and the probability of those that will be funded.
The Director is also responsible for overseeing a collaborative budgeting process with each of the administrative units of the School.
Perform financial analyses and prepare various financial and/or personnel-related documents, to include those requiring the Deanâ™s approval, which represent the Schoolâ™s financial status as a whole, as well as those that analyze specific areas to include funds allocated for a specific agenda.
Responsible for analyzing proposals for new programs and/or initiatives.
Represent the School in financial discussions and negotiations with the Universityâ™s Central Administration, other Schools and Departments of the University, and outside vendors. This includes acting as a liaison between the School and all other parties on various issues to include changes in University benefits, new federal regulations, and the impact and requirements on the Schoo,l and many other issues to include new financial systems.
Oversee the Business Office of the School, which is responsible for accounts payable, procurements, non-tuition income, postage system, equipment purchases/leases, the use of University preferred vendors, floater insurance, and asset maintenance Supervise the Business Office personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
A Masterâ™s in Business Administration or a Certified Public Accountant is preferred, with at least seven years of accounting-related and supervisory experience, preferably in an educational/non-profit institution.
A strong understanding of Washington Universityâ™s Financial Information System, Payroll/Personnel Hiring, Student Information System, and Focus reporting.
Knowledge of financial management software and tools, outstanding quantitative skills, and experience working with diverse professional staff.
Demonstrated analytical skills.
Ability to prioritize, organize and communicate effectively.
Ability to identify financial priorities, issues and problem-solve.
Ability to work in a school setting with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
Ability to manage budget and resource allocation process with research centers, administrative units, faculty, and staff.
Commitment to and understanding of professional education, research, and service missions of the School.
Maintains confidentiality of records, reports, and communications.
Exceptional management/supervisory skills to effectively manage staff with diverse skill sets toward the achievement of financial and operational goals.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelorâ™s in Business Administration or a related field is required.
At least five years of accounting-related and supervisory experience.

Salary Range
$77,700.00 - $136,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
