The primary purpose of the Budget Office at Eugenio Maria de Hostos is to facilitate the optimal use of the college's financial resources, and to support academic and administrative resource planning and budgeting with timely, accurate information. The Budget Office provides financial reports to division heads and special program directors, empowering them to make informed fiscal decisions. To this end, the Budget Office staff offers training on the operating budget to division heads and the support staff who assist in the financial control of expenditures.
The Budget Office is seeking applications for qualified candidates to fill the Finance Budget Specialist position. The successfull candidate will report directly to the Finance Budget Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Prepares monthly financial reports, including special allocation reports: ACE, College Now, ASAP, College Discovery, CLIP and CUNYStart.
Reviews purchase requisitions for authorization, coding and funding availability.
Plays a major role in the year end closing process to include coordination with Purchasing and Accounts Payable.
Responsible for running payroll reports and downloading these reports to HCC internal tracking system, completing variances and reconciliation between NVC payroll system and HCC financial system.
Actively participate in the preparation of the financial plan.
-Performs additional duties as assigned.
Essential duties require on-campus presence.
All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tristate area.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
The following qualifications are preferred:
Four years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, analysis and budget preparation, or related experience, preferably within and educational institution.
Intermediate proficiency using MS Excel to perform extensive data calculations and analysis.
Being detail oriented and accurate with strong numerical analysis, evaluation and research skills.
Strong organizational skills with ability to establish plans, manage a large and varied workload with conflicting priorities, follow-up and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive office.
