FAR Conservatory of Therapeutic and Performing Arts dba FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation, a nonprofit organization providing services to the special needs community since 1951 is seeking an experienced Director of Finance. The Director of Finance will oversee the financial and administrative systems, including finance, accounting, contracts, IT/technology, human resources, and administration. In addition, this position is a member of the leadership team reporting to the President of the organization and will be involved in a range of strategic planning and internal initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Finance:
Own compliance functions, including annual financial audit and 990 tax preparation
Manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting;
Support president on grant reporting
Provide fund development support
Lead the annual budget process
Prepare monthly financial statements and budget to actual reports for the management team and the Board of Directors
Attend monthly Board of Director and Staff meetings
Lead annual benefits review/selection and support open enrollment process
Payroll preparation along with all payroll taxes.
Human Resources:
Supervises general human resources of the organization
Oversee the administration of the organization's human resource policies, programs, practices, and compensation & benefit plans with a focus on talent relations, retention, and the performance management process
Ensure the organization is compliant with all governmental filing requirements
Administration:
Supervises the Office Manager
Oversee the relationship with the outsourced IT vendor.
Support of special events
Qualifications (or similar experience)/Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Master's/MBA/CPA/CMA preferred;
Minimum three years of experience, preferably in the nonprofit industry, in the areas of budgeting, financial reporting, human resources, and administration.
Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Quick Books and spreadsheets required;
Ability to think strategically while also managing the day-to-day details required;
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
Open since 1951, FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation exists as the primary local resource for creative and recreational therapy for special needs individuals. We give our clients access to a variety of artistic disciplines and recreational activities – including music, art, dance/movement and recreational therapies – in one-on-one and group settings. We additionally have partnerships with local schools and school districts to introduce special needs individuals to artistic and recreational therapy within their familiar educational environment. We reach over 1500 adults and children each year. Thanks to decades of support from our community, we are able every day to show our clients they have the power and ability to live the lives they want to live.
