Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in hand by January 1, 2023. Working proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel. Familiarity with Google applications or equivalent.

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Finance, Accounting, Business, Higher Education Administration, or a related field. Experience in a higher education or academic environment.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Finance Associate will work to gain broad-based experience within the Stony Brook University Student Financial Services office, assisting departmental management on special projects and day-to-day office operations. The Associate's work will include, but is not limited to cashiering, payment maintenance, refund management, account analysis, and customer service.
The successful incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as possess a strong interpersonal and customer service orientation with the ability to act with tact and diplomacy at all times. The capacity to pay great attention to even the smallest details and properly leverage organization, time management, and prioritization skills will be critical.
Duties:
- Payment Processing:
- Process student and department payments and daily parking garage revenue.
- Communicate payment issues to students and departments and work with payers to resolve them.
- Prepare cash and check collections for bank deposit.
- Verify employee eligibility for monthly parking garage access within the Parking Garage Management System and process payments for access.
- Reconcile online payment collections with PGMS reports and post receipts.
- Departmental Help Desk Support:
- Participate in public facing communication and provide "help desk" support via department email, phone, and LiveChat application.
- Monitor trends in Help Desk requests and provide feedback to managers to address issues.
- Student Refund Process:
- Assist with the student refund process by evaluating reissue requests and performing abandoned property analysis and outreach.
- Office Efficiency, Policies, and Procedures:
- Contribute to the development, creation, writing, and maintenance of office policies and PeopleSoft testing.
- Identify potential improvements to documented services and work with managers and specialists to develop efficient procedures and PeopleSoft queries.
- Payment Disputes:
- Track, analyze, and process disputes for payments collected across multiple merchant accounts.
- Parking Services and Campus Card:
- Assist with front-line Parking Services operations by verifying permit eligibility in TickeTrak, distributing permits, and answering questions related to parking, ticket payments, and appeals.
- Accept payment for parking fines and replacement permits.
- Assist with front-line Campus Card operations by distributing ID cards and answering questions related to card usage and replacement.
- Accept payment for lost ID cards.
- Additional Duties & Responsibilities as Assigned:
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,026 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
